Fraserburgh Golf Club - Corbiehill Course

Philorth Links, Fraserburgh AB43 8TL

Founded in 1777 and later redesigned by the five times open champion James Braid in 1922 the course is a good yet fair test of golf. The 18 hole Corbiehill course is well protected by the dunes and sand hills that fringe the length of Fraserburgh Bay and offers fine panoramic views particularly from the 3rd Tee with a spectacular vista of sand sea, links and the Buchan landscape. The course is renowned for its undulating fairways and variety of different types of hole, especially the four par threes. In addition Fraserburgh has an interesting 9 hole Rosehill course with a Par 33.

Harry Bannerman is a well known local professional golfer with an impressive record having played in the Ryder cup in 1971 at St Louis against Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. He played in the US Masters at Augusta in 1972 and is also a 5 time winner of the Buchan Firkin at Fraserburgh between 1965 and 1983.He rates Fraserburgh one of the finest link courses in Aberdeenshire His favourite holes are the 3rd 4th and 7th which he says are "short and subtle".
