The Mere Golf Resort & Spa

Chester Road, MereKnutsford WA16 6LJ

The golf course at The Mere Golf & Country Club was designed by former Open Champions, James Braid and George Duncan, the Club's first Professional. Mere has hosted championships regularly since then including the Seniors PGA championship which attracted highly respected entrants such as Gary Player and Christy O'Connor, with Neil Coles winning the title.

This already testing course has been further advanced with new tees, the planting of hundreds of mature trees and the construction of two beautiful water features on the 7th and 8th holes. Mere has many memorable holes with the famous last four, being the most talked about.

At the 15th the player has to negotiate a stream with their drive, the dog-leg 16th has a spectacular view and the 17th requires a drive with a long carry to clear the high bank the width of the fairway. Finally the par five 18th has a green on the water's edge, making the 'famous four' even more of a challenge.
