Vale of Leven Golf Club

Northfield Road, Bonhill G83 9ET

The club was formed in 1907 and was originally a nine hole course on land leased from a local estate owner. In the early 1920's the course was increased to 18 holes, although the fairways on the 6th, 7th and 8th holes were ploughed up during the war and then reinstated after it ended.

The Vale course is situated on the east side of the valley overlooking the surrounding area with some tremendous views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond. From the highest point of the course the view extends as far south as Dumbarton Rock and the Clyde Estuary.

Although the course is fairly short the introduction of bunkers and the proliferance of tricky short holes means scoring is never easy.

Visitors can expect some true Scottish hospitality in the vibrant clubhouse, which was upgraded by the members themselves.
