Sited in full view of the Sugar Loaf Mountain and other scenic delights of the Abergavenny area, Monmouthshire Golf Club occupies a stretch of prime country along the River Usk that is rich in history. The course once housed a Bronze Age settlement and the clubhouse is on the site of a semi-fortified medieval manor house, that was one of the principal houses in Monmouthshire.
It is the oldest club in the county and was known originally as Abergavenny when it was founded as a nine holer in 1892. The legendary golfer James Braid was then drafted in to design the current layout. Monmouthshire can be as tough as it is beautiful and is characterised by three consecutive par 5 holes from the 6th. The latter has the hardest tee shot as a good position will be gained only by driving across a bend in the river which hugs the left of the hole and draws in any stray shot.
Restrictions: No play Sat and Sun during club competitions. Please contact club in advance to make a booking, all tee times are subject to availability.
