Whitehead Golf Club

McCrae's Brae , Whitehead, Carrickfergus BT38 9NZ

Although originally established in 1904, the present course was constructed in 1975 with major alterations taking place in 1995/6, to improve the quality of some holes and add to the pleasure of playing this challenging and well maintained course. The opening hole dog-legs to the left and although measuring 346 yards can play much longer if the tee shot has not been accurately placed in the centre of the fairway. The second hole is bound on both sides by natural banks and is rightly named 'Rath Cimbaith' since flint arrow heads were discovered there when constructing the course in 1972. The third hole is the most scenic on the course and golfers have difficulty in maintaining their concentration when faced with spectacular views of the Scottish coastline, Isle of Man and the Mountains of Mourne. The back nine demands good shot making particularly the 13th hole 'The Beeches'. After completing this challenging course a pleasant clubhouse with a warm reception from the members awaits you in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Restrictions: No visitors on Sat until after 1.30pm. Please contact the club in advance to make a booking, all tee times are subject to availability.
