Founded in 1889 and designed by J.H.Taylor, the course makes the most of the natural contours of the wooded western slopes of the Sid Valley and offers some stunning views out over Lyme Bay.

At just over 5000 yards, visitors could be forgiven for expecting the course to be easy, but this is far from the case. Each hole provides its own challenge, and undulating fairways plus subtle borrows add to this demanding yet delightful test of golf.

The welcoming clubhouse provides further panoramic views of Lyme Bay and along the Devon and Dorset coastline, which has been accorded World Heritage Site status.

Sidmouth town is a gem of Regency architecture and is well served by a number of good hotels and guest houses, making a few days in Sidmouth “with golf clubs” ideal for those who like to mix golf with the other pleasures this lovely part of the world can provide
