Builth Wells Golf Club was formed in 1923 when a number of local businessmen built a 9 hole course. It remained in this form until the mid 1980's when it was revamped and developed into an 18 hole layout. The course is built on undulating parkland, utilising the natural characteristics of woodland and water to produce a challenging, but fair test of golf. Each hole presents its own particular problem, on some accuracy off the tee is required rather than distance.
The small well-guarded greens encourage accuracy, and the stream running through the centre of the course adds to the challenge of the back nine. The clubhouse has recently undergone a major development part funded by the Wales Tourist Board. There are now two large areas, a spike bar and restaurant, maintaining the warm, cheerful and comfortable atmosphere that is Builth Wells Golf Club.
