Penrith Golf Club is situated on the edge of the Lake District near the Eden Valley. The course measures just over 6000 yards long and is fairly flat with some of the best views in the Country, overlooking as it does the Northern Lake District Fells. It is renowned for its fine greens and a warm welcome is guaranteed. The course regularly holds championships and its 36 hole Scratch Tournament is named after one of its most famous Past Presidents, Willie Whitelaw. Its situation is perfect for travellers as Penrith is located where the A66 meets the M6. Many visitors call in to play on their way up to or on their way back from Scotland. The course is situated on top of Maidenhill just off the A6 to Carlisle at the northern end of the town. The Clubhouse is there for the use and enjoyment of all members and visitors and has Ladies and Gents Locker rooms, the Pro shop, the bar, lounges and main dining room. Facilities include two televisions, full sized snooker table, tea, coffee, bar snacks and main meals together with a fully stocked bar. The Club Professional is Andrew Sowerby, who is assisted by Tim Dykes, who plays on the Challenge Tour and between them they run the Professional's shop. Both Andrew and Tim are happy to offer coaching lessons on an individual basis and also onduct group lessons from time to time. A visit to play Penrith Golf Club is well worthwhile and you won't be disappointed with the course or the views."
