A Downland Course at Ashley Wood Golf Club are with fairways that undulate and apart from the fairly steep third hole, all the others are easy walking so it suits golfers of all ages and abilities especially those looking for a relatively easy to walk golf course. The views of the surrounding countryside north to Salisbury Plain and south to the Purbecks are magnificent and these are complemented with 4 holes played within Ashley Wood itself, ancient woodlands that are carpeted with bluebells in the spring and abundant with birdlife including buzzards.
The chalk downland means that the course drains very quickly and remains playable in all but the most extreme weather so ideal for that winter golf break near the coast. The course is par 70 and at 6308 yards, is not the longest golf course in Dorset but the last five holes provide a strong challenge for all levels of ability, especially if the wind blows. Regardless of your handicap, if you're looking for a challenging game of golf in Dorset you won't be disappointed.
