The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club, founded in 1774, originally played over the famous 9 hole links course in Musselburgh. The front nine provides a fair challenge, but the final third of the course can make or break a score. The tough four hole stretch from the long par four 13th includes the 'gully', a par three (14th) where to be short is to court disaster, followed by one of the best par fours in the Lothians. A precision drive is required to find the rollercoasting fairway. From there, a long iron is played to a tilting green. The club has in its' possession a silver cup, known as the 'Old Club Cup', dating from 1774. This is the oldest cup in the world still played for competitively today and can be admired in the magnificent clubhouse.
** The sixth oldest golf club in the world**
