The first golf course in Padua was created in 1962 on the initiative of the industrialist Igino Kofler and a group of keen golfers under the name Golf Club Euganeo. The course now comprises 27 holes situated at the foot of the Euganean Hills, bordering on the 17th-century Villa Barbarigo, designed by English architect John Harris of the Cotton studio in London. The first 18 holes, par 72, convey at first glance technical and scenic harmony, thanks also to the valuable contribution of another historic president of the club: Benedetto Sgaravatti.

The course is a veritable botanical garden with 8000 trees and bushes chosen according to landscape and technical criteria, revealing a unique course that winds its way through strategically distributed ponds and sand obstacles.

The Padua Golf Club offers accommodation facilities such as a swimming pool, sauna and gym, and the restaurant, well known in the region and on the national golfing scene, deserves a mention.

Today it is a rare example of a symbiosis between a Club and a Resort open to guests, and in early spring and late autumn it attracts thousands of golfers, especially from Northen Europe.

The Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei, covering an area of approximately 18,694 hectares, was established in 1989, identifying an area of great geomorphological interest, characterised by hills of volcanic origin formed around 35 million years ago (Oligocene). Monte Venda, at 601 m above sea level, is the highest in the formation.

The Park, inhabited by man since the Lower Palaeolithic, contains interesting archaeological sites, naturalistic and ethnographic museums.

It comprises 15 municipalities that combine environmental value with the charm of medieval fortifications, ancient stone villages, Venetian villas, historic gardens, hermitages and monasteries, surrounded by the tranquillity of fine vineyards.

The wooded areas are dominated by large areas of Mediterranean scrub, chestnut and oak woods. There are more than 200 paths that make up the exploratory network, 17 of which have been mapped out by the Park Authority and are equipped with appropriate signs for excursions. Excellent hotel and restaurant facilities.
