A great way to start your weekend is with golf at Tandragee Golf Club, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland
10 August 2018
Tandragee Golf Club is a formidable yet picturesque 18 hole parkland course, set in the beautiful County Armagh countryside in Northern Ireland. Open Fairways has over 1000 great golf courses available to play...
Tandragee was developed on the Duke of Manchester's estate in 1911 and affiliation to the Golfing Union of Ireland took place in 1922. With magnificent views of the Mourne Mountains and Co. Armagh Hills, Tandragee is a very pleasant parkland layout. The signature hole is surely 'The Wall' (380m SI.1). This demanding par 4 needs a fair modicum of respect. A tree-lined fairway with out of bounds over the old boundary wall on the right and a difficult approach into a subtly contoured green ensures this. The real strength of Tandragee however, is in the short holes - 4 excellent par threes. The pick of these may be the testing 157m 16th hole, 'The Quarry' where the tee shot is played across a valley into an intimidating plateau green.
Tandragee is always improving its already enjoyable course - recently it has introduced 2 new lakes at the 6th and 18th complete with a new population of ducks. Also, under the professional guidance of David Jones, 3 new holes, including a splendid long par 3 (184m), have lengthened the course by 360m and raised the par to 71.
