Enjoy a beautiful autumn game of golf at Sand Moor Golf Club in West Yorkshire, England
07 November 2018
Sand Moor Golf Club is ranked in the top 6% of golf courses in England, and although the course offers a real challenge, it is not a particularly punitive course, and therefore can be enjoyed by players of all abilities.
The Sand Moor Golf Club has been described as the finest example of a golfing paradise created out of moorland. Only a few miles from Leeds city centre, the club boasts one of the premier golf courses in Leeds and West Yorkshire. The original Sand Moor course was developed for the Leeds clothier, Mr Henry Barran in 1921. Further improvements were undertaken with the assistance of Dr Alister Mackenzie, of Augusta National fame, who was a member of the first Greens Committee at the club. Over the years, Sand Moor has played host to many leading amateur and PGA events, including the European Car Care Plan Tournament won by Nick Faldo. Sand Moor Golf Club is situated in an enviable position with panoramic views overlooking Eccup reservoir, the Harewood Estate and the Yorkshire Dales. The membership also has an impressive record of producing many fine golfers, including British and English Amateur Champions and Walker Cup Team members.
