Everything you'd expect from a great round of golf!! Holyhead Golf Club in Anglesey, Wales
30 May 2018
Located on the stunningly beautiful Isle of Anglesey, Holyhead Golf Club offers some of the best golf to be had in Wales.
Enjoying fantastic views towards the mountains of Snowdonia and situated only 1 mile from the port of Holyhead, gateway to Ireland, the course is a challenging heathland 18 hole championship course with some of the best greens to be found anywhere.
Increasingly popular with Irish golfers (Dublin is only 90 minutes away on the nearby fast ferry service) - Holyhead is a seaside heathland course on Holy Island which is linked by the causeway to Anglesey.
The course has no trees but derives it's character from rocky outcrops, undulating fairways hemmed in by gorse and sea views - none finer than at the elevated 10th tee from where a 360 degrees panorama takes in Snowdonia, The Lleyn Peninsula and a vast expanse of the Irish Sea.
Designed by the ubiquitous James Braid in 1912, Holyhead has just re-routed two holes which has lead to the 9th becoming a par 5. The main improvement is the quality of the greens and the club believes they are recovering their reputation of being the best in North Wales. The course is at its most spectacular in spring but, dominated by the moods of the wind, is testing at any time.
