" QUITE SIMPLY, an utter gem of a hole and a standout on what is an underrated parkland course perched on the cliffs at the edge of Macduff. Indeed, Tarlair might not be the most high profile of ‘royal’ clubs but in the simply spectacular ‘Clivet’ it has one of the finest holes in the country.

The North East of Scotland is renowned for its rugged beauty and the course at Royal Tarlair is no exception.
Situated in the town of Macduff the course commands panoramic views of the coastline with the village of Pennan (made famous by the film 'Local Hero') only several miles from the clubhouse. Royal Tarlair is a cliff top parkland course which presents a challenge for the serious golfer and an idyllic setting for the not so serious.
The signature hole is the famous 13th known as 'Clivet', a hole that every golfer has to experience. This exhilarating par 3 offers the golfer the rare opportunity to test their nerve and resolve to the limit as well as providing a scenic hole which will remain in the memory for years to come.
An outstanding feature is the quality of the greens at Tarlair, the envy of most clubs in the area
