Play great golf at the Old Padeswood Golf Club in Flintshire, Wales

The Open Fairways Privilege Card provides an affordable way to enjoy the very best that these islands have to offer. One of our hidden gems, is Old Padeswood GC, not too far from the Welsh Coast.
Old Padeswood is situated in the picturesque Alyn Valley of Flintshire and was founded in 1977 following the transfer of Padeswood & Buckley to new premises nearby. The Club retained the land upon which the original course was laid in 1909. It's potential as a golf course was recognised by a passing professional, the late Arthur Joseph, whilst eating his packed lunch at the roadside. Following consultations with the landowner, he decided to settle down in the area and proceeded to lay out the 9 hole meadow land golf course with the only implements available to him - a pick, shovel, rake, fork and wheelbarrow.
In 1983 a further 9 holes were added and cleverly integrated into the existing nine to form a testing 18 hole course of championship standard. It was officially opened in 1985 by the Welsh International and former Ryder Cup Captain, Brian Huggett MBE.
